Celeste Holm dies at the age of 95

Actress Celeste Holm passed away yesterday at the age of 95. She had been hospitalized about two weeks ago with dehydration and had asked her husband on Friday to bring her home. She spent her final days with her husband, Frank Basile, and other relatives and close friends by her side.
The Oscar winning actress was born in New York in 1917. She is known for her performance in movies like All About Eve, High Society and Gentleman’s Agreement for which she won an Oscar. She also originated the role of Ado Annie in Oklahoma! on Broadway in 1943. She kept acting all her life and played roles in television series such as Archie Bunker and Falcon Crest. She remained active for social causes too and was a spokesperson for Unicef.
Personally, she had been married five times and had two sons. Unfortunatly, later in life she was caught up in a bitter, multi-year legal family battle that pitted her two sons against her and her fifth husband. The court fight over investments and inheritance wiped away much of her savings and left her dependent on Social Security.
